Job Overview:

The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the hotel's engineering department. This includes managing a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring the proper maintenance and repair of all hotel facilities, and implementing preventative maintenance programs. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent leadership abilities, and a commitment to guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Team Management:

o Recruit, hire, train, and develop a high-performing engineering team.

o Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide feedback and coaching.

o Create and maintain a positive and collaborative work environment.

Facility Maintenance:

o Oversee the maintenance and repair of all hotel systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems.

o Respond promptly to guest requests and maintenance issues.

o Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities to identify potential problems and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Preventative Maintenance:

o Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program.

o Schedule and oversee regular maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment.

o Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities.

Energy Management:

o Monitor energy consumption and identify opportunities for energy conservation.

o Implement energy-saving measures to reduce costs and environmental impact.

Budgeting and Procurement:

o Develop and manage the department's budget.

o Source and procure necessary parts, equipment, and supplies.

o Negotiate contracts with vendors and contractors.

Safety and Compliance:

o Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations.

o Conduct regular safety training and drills.

o Investigate and report accidents and incidents.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical degree or certification preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in hotel engineering or a related field.
  • Skills:
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in computer software, including CMMS systems.
