Job Description

The Group Sales Manager is responsible for driving group revenue through the proactive development, solicitation, and management of key accounts and target market segments, leading the full sales cycle from prospecting and negotiation through closing while delivering exceptional service and cultivating long-term client relationships. Serving as a strategic partner to both clients and internal teams, this role collaborates closely with Revenue Management, Marketing, and Operations to ensure competitive positioning, seamless execution, and an elevated guest experience, while playing a critical role in maximizing market share, exceeding revenue goals, and positioning the hotel as a trusted, high-performing brand within the group and meetings segment.

Group Sales & Business Development

  • Proactively identify, solicit, and convert new group business opportunities (10+ peak room nights) within assigned markets and segments
  • Lead the full sales cycle, including prospecting, qualification, proposal development, negotiation, and closing of group business
  • Manage and grow an assigned portfolio of group accounts, driving market share and incremental revenue
  • Negotiate group agreements, pricing, and concessions in alignment with brand standards and revenue optimization strategies
  • Achieve and exceed established room night and revenue goals on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis

Client Relationship Management

  • Build, develop, and maintain long-term, value-driven relationships with clients, meeting planners, and key decision-makers
  • Deliver exceptional service through proactive communication, responsiveness, and consistent follow-up to drive client satisfaction and repeat business
  • Conduct impactful site inspections; plan and host familiarization (FAM) trips; and coordinate client visits to showcase the property
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows, industry events, and client engagements to strengthen relationships and generate new business opportunities

Market Strategy & Revenue Optimization

  • Analyze market trends, demand patterns, and competitive data to identify opportunities and refine sales strategies
  • Partner closely with Revenue Management to align pricing, availability, and group strategy to maximize profitability
  • Actively prospect and research new business opportunities to expand market presence and increase share within key segments

Account Management & Internal Collaboration

  • Execute regular account reviews and contribute to the development of strategic market action plans
  • Collaborate with Marketing on targeted campaigns, promotions, and initiatives to support group sales efforts
  • Work cross-functionally with Events, Operations, and Revenue teams to ensure a seamless transition from booking through execution
  • Assist in the planning and strategic direction of the overall Group Sales effort

Leadership & Brand Representation

  • Demonstrate leadership, initiative, and accountability in driving business results and supporting overall team success
  • Serve as a brand ambassador, consistently representing the hotel with professionalism and a commitment to luxury service excellence
  • Maintain active involvement in industry organizations and associations to enhance visibility and market engagement

Sales Operations & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Manage the RFP process, including timely responses, contract negotiations & execution in accordance with established guidelines
  • Prepare and present weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual sales reports, forecasts, and performance updates
  • Maintain accurate account activity, pipeline management, and reporting within Delphi
  • Coordinate and manage sales travel, FAM trips, and client events within assigned territories, including budget accountability and post-trip reporting

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related discipline preferred.
  • 2–4 years of progressive hotel sales experience, including corporate and group sales, with a track record of supporting revenue growth.
