Reports To: Director of Sales & Marketing

Job Summary

The Director of Entertainment Sales is responsible for effectively soliciting and becoming familiar with all accounts in their group and transient market segments.  The Director of Entertainment Sales is also responsible for prospecting and closing on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact hotel revenues. The Director of Entertainment Sales must be able to manage and maximize current accounts along with penetrating and establishing new accounts for the hotel. 

General Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for attaining assigned goals tied to the hotel's overall performance. The individual will be responsible for effectively soliciting, securing new accounts and entertainment business along with managing and optimizing existing accounts.
  • Solicit, engage, and develop relationships with people in the Entertainment Industry to secure business and groups in alignment with the property's commercial strategies.
  • Works collaboratively with the sales team to ensure sales efforts are coordinated and not duplicated.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings. Activities include but are not limited to sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, tradeshows, etc.
  • Develop relationships within the community to strengthen and expand the customer base for sales opportunities.
  • Entertain clients and hotel guests on the property as directed by the Director of Sales and General Manager.
  • Manage and develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participates in sales calls, phone solicitation/prospecting, and market analyses to acquire new business and/or close on business.
  • Executes and supports operational aspects of business booked (i.e generating proposals, writing contracts, and customer correspondence)
  • Identifies new business opportunities to achieve personal and sales organization goals.
  • Understands the overall market competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, and competitor positioning to shift market share and optimize business profitability.
  • Establish themselves as subject matter experts; serve the customer by understanding their business, business issues, and concerns to offer better business solutions.
  • Supports the company’s service and relationship strategy, driving customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.
  • Works collaboratively with the Sales and Marketing team to promote initiatives.
  • Initiate sales agreements on the company’s behalf, in alignment with property standards.
  • Initiate individual resumes as needed to ensure a seamless guest experience by communicating critical information to internal department stakeholders.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Abide by Prime Selling Time (PST)

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • A complete understanding of forecasting, selling, and dynamics of Midtown and greater Manhattan Market and comp set.
  • Highly motivated individual who can work independently.
  • Ability to handle confidential information discretely and in the proper manner.
  • Self-starter, and possess excellent presentation skills.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels of employees, guests & customers in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Proven track record of successful sales history.
  • Knowledge of Marriott Systems including CI/TY.
  • Knowledge of industry systems including Hotelligence(Demand 360, etc)
  • This position requires travel.

Qualification Standards:

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, hotel and restaurant management, or a related major is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience in a luxury/upper upscale hotel environment.
  • At least 2-3 years of entertainment sales experience
